One Day in Dubrovnik: 5 Curated Itineraries for Every Travel Style

So you can only spend one day in Dubrovnik? No problem – we’ve got the perfect itinerary for you!
Dubrovnik has countless activities available for all kinds of interests so it may seem daunting to try to narrow them down. We traveled to Dubrovnik recently so we have a definite feel for the city and what you’d be able to see and do in one day.
Typically, we suggest spending at least two or three nights however, we know that’s not always possible.
When I designed itineraries for clients, it was quite common to schedule only one night in a city for various reasons.
Whatever the reason, it’s not impossible to see a city in one day, just a bit more challenging.
The first trick is to balance the itinerary to include a good mix of must-see attractions with activities that appeal to your personal interests. The second trick is taking all of that and condensing it into one day. Again, difficult, but not impossible.
To help with your process, we’re providing you with 5 options for a one-day Dubrovnik itinerary. You can use these as written or you can use them as a template to further mold it to your likes or needs. Hopefully, this will make things a little less daunting for you!

One Day In Dubrovnik
There are two things to keep in mind when planning an itinerary. The first is to make sure you’re planning activities that will enhance your visit. The second is to allow yourself time to actually enjoy the activities.
This is especially important when you’re trying to fit a lot of things into a short amount of time.
In a way, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is an ideal city to see in one day. Many of the key attractions and activities are centered around Old Town which is only 0.247 square kilometers (0.095 square miles).
This means you can schedule quite a few activities into your day without having to travel too far to get to each one. This is important to the planning process because not only do you need to account for the time it takes for the activity itself but how long it takes to get from one to the other as well.
Each of these itineraries is centered around Dubrovnik’s Old Town, so you can spend more time exploring and less time getting from place to place.
These itineraries were designed based on traveling during the peak tourist season. Operating hours for attractions and tours will vary depending on the time of year you visit. Be sure to confirm hours prior to making your travel arrangements.

Dubrovnik offers many convenient options for getting around the city. Let’s take a look at some of the transportation options that are available during your visit.
- Bus – Dubrovnik has a great bus system that connects Old Town with the rest of the city. Operated by Libertas Dubrovnik, this is a convenient and economical option for moving around the city.

If you purchase a Dubrovnik Pass, this entitles you to free use of the public transportation for the length of the pass
- Taxi – There are plenty of taxi stands located throughout town including the most popular tourist areas. The Old Town is pedestrianized so cars are not permitted, however, there is a taxi stand located just outside Pile Gate.
- Ferries – During the peak tourist months, there are several ferries that connect Dubrovnik with islands just off the coast as well as destination up and down the coast. This is a relaxing and stress-free option if you’re visiting during the summer months.
- Walking – Dubrovnik Old Town is a very walkable area especially since it’s pedestrianized and a relatively compact area. You can walk to other areas of the city, however, it could take a while and in the heat of the summer may not be ideal.
- Ride-Share – Uber and Bolt are the available ride-share services in Dubrovnik.
